About this role
Provide air traffic control services for aviation operations, ensuring safety of flight, traffic separations, and sequencing in Class D airspace using VFR only procedures. This role maintains positive control of aircraft within designated airspace. Communicate with adjacent facilities to transmit and receive flight instructions and information.
Deliver air traffic services within established priorities to aircraft arriving, departing, or practicing approaches. Apply appropriate separation minima in accordance with FAA or Military directives. Alert airport emergency crews and designated personnel during unexpected events, emergencies, and unscheduled traffic.
Provide current weather phenomena to aircraft and formulate ground movement instructions for aircraft, vehicles, and personnel in controlled movement areas. Maintain and disseminate records of daily operations. This position has no supervisory responsibilities but carries authority to execute assigned tasks effectively.
Operate in high-stress environments requiring excellent analytical skills to evaluate data and make decisions with limited information. Demonstrate strong decision analysis and problem-solving to communicate issues to management and regulatory agencies. Maintain required FAA certifications, training, and medical clearance for ongoing professional performance.
Requirements
- Previously awarded FAA Control Tower Operator (CTO) Certificate
- Watch Supervisor experience
- 3 consecutive years of experience performing CTO certified ATC tower duties
- FAA form 7220-1 or equivalent
- Maintain current FAA Class II Medical clearance at all times
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Valid driver license with acceptable driving record
- Ability to pass drug and background screenings and obtain government security clearance
