About this role
Handshake is recruiting Commercial Pilots to contribute to an hourly, temporary AI research project. No AI experience is needed. Leverage your professional experience to evaluate AI model outputs, assess aviation-related content, and deliver clear, structured feedback that strengthens the model's understanding of workplace tasks and language.
This ongoing, project-based opportunity runs year-round with periodic openings across expertise areas. It can be done alongside your primary employment. Placement depends on project availability, with more opportunities coming soon if not immediately available.
The position is remote and asynchronous, allowing independent work from anywhere. Hours are flexible with no minimum commitment, though most average 5-20 hours. Work involves developing prompts reflecting your aviation field and evaluating AI responses.
Participate in a program that utilizes your real-world aviation responsibilities for AI improvement. Gain insights into AI applications in aviation. Contribute to enhancing model performance in pilot-specific scenarios and terminology.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of professional experience in commercial piloting
- Check aircraft prior to flights to ensure engines, controls, instruments, and systems are functioning properly
- Co-pilot aircraft or perform captain’s duties as required
- Calculate takeoff requirements by considering airport altitude, temperature, aircraft weight, and wind conditions
- Monitor engine performance, fuel consumption, and aircraft systems during flight
- Communicate with control towers for takeoff clearances, arrival instructions, and operational information
- Plan flights in accordance with government and company regulations using aeronautical charts and navigation instruments
- Start engines, operate controls, and pilot aircraft to transport passengers, mail, or freight according to flight plans
