Norfolk Southern seeks a Captain Pilot to operate company aircraft, providing safe, reliable, and efficient air transportation within established policies and federal regulations. This role acts as Challenger 605 PIC or SIC, ensuring safety of flight, airworthiness, and the highest customer service standards. Flight operations demand precision and compliance at all times.

Day-to-day responsibilities include flight planning, aircraft performance calculations, and weight and balance management. Captain Pilots ensure compliance with weather limitations, NOTAMs, TFRs, and all safety considerations. They also address passenger needs like security, ground transportation, catering, and baggage handling.

Operate in a customer-centric environment committed to FAA regulations, ICAO standards, company procedures, and industry best practices. Contribute to the Flight Department’s Safety Management System through hazard identification and reporting. Train and certify on all NS type aircraft as PIC and SIC.

Assume collateral duties as assigned by the Chief Pilot in this operations-driven freight transportation network. Requirements

  • ATP with multiengine land rating
  • CL-604 Type Rating (604/605/650)
  • Valid US Passport
  • English proficient
  • FAA First Class Medical
  • 2,500 hours total time; 1,000 hours jet time; 500 hours Challenger series experience (minimum)
  • EFB use, Arinc, ForeFlight
  • MS Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook

Responsibilities

  • Operate company aircraft providing safe, reliable, and efficient air transportation within established company policies and federal regulations
  • Act as Challenger 605 PIC or SIC, ensuring safety of flight, airworthiness of company aircraft, and highest customer service standards
  • Manage flight planning, aircraft performance, and weight and balance while ensuring compliance with weather limitations, NOTAMs, TFRs, and safety considerations
  • Ensure compliance with FAA regulations, ICAO standards, company procedures, and industry best practices; operate per manufacturer and company SOPs
  • Address passenger needs including security requirements, ground transportation, catering, and baggage handling
  • Contribute to Flight Department’s SMS through active participation, hazard identification, and reporting
  • Train and certify on all NS type aircraft as PIC and SIC
  • Assume collateral duties as assigned by the Chief Pilot
