About this role

Hydro One seeks a Helicopter Pilot for a temporary 6-month role from April 1 to September 30 in Simcoe, Ontario. Act as Pilot in Command on any of Hydro One Networks Inc. helicopter fleet. Responsible for the operation and safety of the helicopter commanded and all persons onboard during flight time.

As Pilot in Command, hold final authority for the helicopter's disposition. Ensure the helicopter is operated in accordance with all applicable orders, standard operating procedures, and regulations. Provide liaison with customers to determine scheduling and helicopter expertise needs.

Demonstrate good judgment and decision making regarding helicopter operations. Maintain the appropriate level of skill for all specialty flying. Reside within 50km of BAA to support on-call duties in a supportive department environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum Grade XII education with aviation background and valid commercial (or higher) helicopter license
  • Thorough knowledge of helicopter related technology and current on all Transport Canada regulations
  • Minimum of 3000 flight hours with current experience on Airbus AS350/AS355 series helicopters
  • Sufficient level of bush or field experience to fly into remote locations plus experience flying between established airports
  • Experience in all types of external load operations, powerline patrols, working in close proximity to high voltage lines and longlining operations
  • Ability to work independently without constant supervision
  • Demonstrate sensitivity towards customers and customer needs

Responsibilities

  • Act as Pilot in Command on any of Hydro One Networks Inc. helicopter fleet
  • Ensure responsibility for the operation and safety of the helicopter commanded and safety of all persons onboard during flight time
  • Operate the helicopter in accordance with all applicable orders, standard operating procedures and regulations
  • Provide liaison with existing/potential customers in determining the scheduling of the helicopter fleet and communicate helicopter expertise
  • Demonstrate good judgment and decision making ability regarding the helicopter and its operation
  • Maintain the appropriate level of skill necessary in different helicopter types for all specialty flying
