About this role

This candidate will develop and coordinate Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Certificates of Waiver or Authorization (COAs) to operate unmanned systems within the National Airspace System (NAS) for USSOCOM components and USAF units. Expertise ensures safe UAS integration. The role supports FAA and DoD policies for military aviation operations.

Manage flight control surfaces, cockpit controls, connections, and operating mechanisms required to control the flight direction of an aircraft. Operate aircraft engine controls in order to change aircraft speed. Thoroughly understand major activities in air traffic management, including air traffic control, flow management, and aeronautic information services.

Understand the tasks performed by air traffic controllers, including interaction and effective communication between aircraft and controllers. Execution of follow-up activities ensures smooth operations during flights. Work confidently in a group in general aviation services for air safety and aircraft maintenance.

Monitor the effective implementation of the Flexible Use of Airspace (FUA) concept at various levels. Ensure data communication through digital means such as computers, telephone or e-mail. Position is contingent upon contract award and offers referral incentives.

Requirements

  • Must be a US citizen
  • Must have a Top-Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
  • Certified Air Traffic Controller with relevant experience to sUAS integration and deep knowledge of the National Airspace System (NAS), FAAO 7110.65, 14 CFR Part 91, and 14 CFR Part 107
  • Can be substituted by FAA certified Private Pilot
  • Successful background and drug screening check
  • Work confidently in a group in general aviation services for air safety and aircraft maintenance

Responsibilities

  • Develop and coordinate FAA Certificates of Waiver or Authorization (COAs) to operate unmanned systems within the NAS for USSOCOM components and USAF units
  • Assist and advise the government in negotiating and implementing FAA & DoD UAS integration policy and procedures for USSOCOM components and USAF units
  • Manage flight control surfaces, cockpit controls, connections, and operating mechanisms to control aircraft flight direction
  • Operate aircraft engine controls to change aircraft speed
  • Understand major activities in air traffic management, including air traffic control, air traffic flow management, and aeronautic information services
  • Understand rules and regulations governing air transport including international law
  • Monitor effective implementation of the Flexible Use of Airspace (FUA) concept at various levels
