As an Air Traffic Controller / ATC Specialist, support FAA Air Traffic Systems and Surveillance Services directorates within the Program Management Organization (PMO). Provide senior-level air traffic control system expertise to coordinate with requirements and operations personnel. Contribute to streamlining acquisition and deployment of next-generation systems.
Work on projects improving airport infrastructure, airspace efficiency, and integration of unmanned aircraft systems and commercial space ventures. Interface with user teams, system engineers, and program personnel. Your efforts directly influence FAA's adaptation to growth and technological shifts.
Ensure the aerospace system remains the safest and most efficient worldwide through expert analysis and recommendations. Demonstrate subject matter expertise in air traffic control procedures, equipment, facilities, terminology, and technology. Present solutions for short and long-term program planning.
Requirements
- Successfully pass an FAA background investigation/verification and receive a successful final suitability determination
- Air traffic control technical and operational work experience as a domestic or oceanic air traffic controller in an En Route & Oceanic or Terminal operational environment
- Relevant training and/or certifications as an Air Traffic Controller
- Knowledge of Air Traffic Control, Navigation, Flight Information, and Automation systems such as ERAM, TAMR, STARS, ASDE-X, ADS-B, ASOS, TFMS, TFDM
- Demonstrate subject matter expertise in air traffic control procedures, equipment, facilities, terminology and technology
Responsibilities
- Provide expert analysis to support development of site implementation and transition planning for National and Regional projects
- Identify, analyze, coordinate, resolve, and report resolution of implementation issues from Capital Investment Plan projects
- Coordinate technical interchange meetings and program reviews
- Coordinate workgroup activities for En Route and Oceanic program offices and assist in air traffic requirements development
- Assist with requirements verification and tracking for new En Route, Oceanic, and Terminal Air Traffic Control tools and systems
- Identify potential inconsistencies and usability issues related to ATC system changes
- Analyze system/subsystem specifications to ensure air traffic operational concerns are addressed
- Present recommendations/solutions related to short and long-term program planning requirements
